| The Procedure There are three stages to cold cap therapy using the Penguin Cold Caps. Stage 1: This is the pre cooling time required to prepare the scalp before commencement of chemotherapy. Stage 2: Consists of the actual time taken to administer the chemotherapy, which will vary depending on the chemotherapy drugs prescribed. Stage 3: Consists of the time allowed after chemotherapy has ended for the effects of the drugs on the hair bulb to be reduced, which again varies depending on the chemotherapy drugs prescribed. The Penguin Cold Cap is worn throughout all three stages of cold cap therapy. The number of Penguin Cold Cap required for each treatment is dependant on several factors. The first Penguin Cold Cap is worn for 20 minutes and all subsequent Penguin Cold Caps are worn for 35 minutes. Prior to use the Penguin Cold Caps must be cooled to the correct temperature in a suitable freezer, usually overnight ready for use the next day.
